Vidal Collection

Name Vidal Collection
Description Part of the rich geological and palaeontological collection donated by Lluís Marià Vidal i Carreras to the Natural Sciences Junta, which was subsequently placed on deposit in the Martorell Museum in 1922, consists of 235 rock samples. All are from Catalonia, above all from Lleida and Girona provinces. Of special interest are the samples from the counties of Vall d’Aran, Pallars Sobirà and Pallars Jussà. Lithologically, the samples are dominated by organic rocks (53 samples), granites, marbles and phyllites.
