Description The Institute's herbarium contains a part (695 specimens) of the collection of Hipólito Ruiz (1754-1816) and José Pavón (1754-1840) that includes plants collected during the Spanish expeditions to America during which material was collected by M. Sessé, J.M. Mociño, H. Ruiz and J. Pavón, amongst others. It has been on permanent loan from the Barcelona Royal Academy of Science and Arts since 1925 and was digitalized in 2001-2006 by Neus Ibáñez as part of her doctoral thesis. In 2010, 243 more type sheets of species of special interest were digitalized.
