The Eurasian Stone-curlew feeds on insects and other small invertebrats, and occasionally on small reptiles. Its bill is robust, straight and pointed. The eye sockets are open and placed high up on the cranium and so the dorsal part of the eye sockets project from the eye space. It has no occipital foramen, only a foramen màgnum. Its lacrimal bones project clearly. Its mandible is short and robust, and is a good indicator of the type of food it feeds on.
