Description:

The Barn Owl is a nocturnal predator that feeds on small mammals such as mice, moles, shrews, hares and rabbits. Its skull is rounded, with a pronounced frontal bone. Its orbits face forward and so provide it with excellent binocular vision for hunting. However, it has to turn its head to look sideways as the sclerotic rings are placed inside the sclera and prevent the eye from rotating.
