Mining Collection

Name Mining Collection
Description This collection originated from the exhibition opened in 1904 on Mining and Hydraulic Projects in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, which had as a side event an international exhibition of machines and other material for use in mining, metallurgical, hydraulic and electricity industries. It was organized by the Spanish chamber of commerce as a way of publicizing the mineral richness of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. The material was donated to the museum in 1905 (Gómez-Alba, 2001). This petrological collection consists of 32 samples, all from Spain, and includes of 22 samples of sedimentary rock and 10 of igneous rock.
